Pike Place Market is Our Story

3 Generations of Steinbruecks have been a part of the Pike Market - Raven’s Nest represents that legacy.

We are the second generation of Steinbruecks at Raven’s Nest, but none of that would be possible without Grandpa Victor.

The Pike Market simply wouldn’t be around for us to have a store. Grandpa Victor spearheaded and actively supported the preservation and adaptation of Pioneer Square and Pike Place Market into historic districts. He sought to protect the historic fabric of these centers, while successfully fighting to incorporate low-income housing and social services within their comprehensive plans.

Eighteen years after “The Market was Saved”, Matthew Steinbrueck found his future in buying a store in that same market. That store became The Raven’s Nest.

We’ve always been a place of beautiful things and curiosities - a reflection of our family’s interest in collecting and propelled by Matthew’s certification as a gemologist from the Gemological Institute of America.

Today, The Raven’s Nest is still a family owned business. Passed down from Matthew to his eldest son, you’ll find Conrad along with his fiancee, Madison, regularly in the shop. If you’re lucky, shop dog Beta or Peter will be there too!

We are a place of authenticity and curiosity. A collection of whatever catches our eye as beautiful or curious - a raven’s Nest.
