Courage Benally

Courage Benally was born and raised in the Pinon, Arizona area of the Navajo Reservation.  Surrounded by sheep, horses and pristine Arizona desert he was raised knowing what it was to be DinĂ© (Navajo). He is a noted artist, silversmith, and dancer.

Courage went on to college and then spent his adult career in education in the Seattle, Washington area. While being an educator in the Pacific Northwest, he stayed in touch with his Diné culture while he also learned Northwest Coastal native traditions and art. Having recently retired as an art teacher, Courage moved back to Arizona and is now living out his retirement making art in the Prescott area.

He also frequents his homeland staying in touch with family, friends and traditions. Courage is not only an artist. He also hoop dances for schools and organizations and is an accomplished Pow wow dancer.
